A manicure that can last a full two weeks might seem like a beauty miracle. But what about a manicure than can last fourteen days and be good for your nails? That might seem like an impossible nail fairy tale! But it’s real, and we are so excited to offer Signature Nail Systems, or SNS for short, at the Beach Plum Spa. This method creates a natural looking nail that is strong, flexible, and incredibly shiny (or, dramatically matte if you prefer). Dip powder nails aren’t a new thing, but they have been making a major comeback lately, mostly thanks to social media. Different from their shellac, acrylic and gel ancestors, SNS nails basically take all the best components from other types of manicures and look really incredible while doing it.

Back in the 1980s, when big hair and super long acrylic nails were all the rage, estheticians repaired their clients’ broken and split nails by dipping them. Then, they coated the damaged nail with adhesive, then covered it with a special powder to build a flexible finish. In 1990, the SNS nail company (founded by a talented salon owner with 30 years in the nail beauty industry) first introduced their innovative SNS Dipping Powders. Today, SNS is the world’s leader in dip powder nails, offering a variety of dazzling colors all of which result in absolutely gorgeous nails.

In this article, we’ll look at some of the benefits of SNS Nails, as well as the process.

No Strong Odor

If love getting your nails done but are sensitive to scents, SNS is the perfect system for you. It doesn’t use liquid monomers, which means when you get a manicure, there is no “nail polish” smell.

Zero Drying Time

Instead of using UV and LED rays to seal in your polish, the color comes from a pigmented powder, so you don’t have to worry about messing up your nails since there is zero drying time!

SNS Nails Are Super Durable

If you do your own nails at home with regular nail polish, the finish will tend to chip within a day or two. If you add an undercoat and topcoat and avoid any activities that might damage your nails, they might look good Monday through Friday. For a longer-lasting manicure, try SNS. The system is like a super lightweight armor for your fingertips, only it doesn’t feel hard or heavy, and generally lasts until your nails grow out.

They Have A Natural Look

There are multiple aesthetic benefits of getting SNS. It looks natural, and is thinner than other options like shellac and acrylic nails.

Safe & Pure Ingredients

The SNS products don’t contain many of the toxic ingredients that other polishes have. Instead, they contain safe and pure ingredients with no parabens, no phthalates, no mineral oil, no synthetic sulfate, no triethanolamine, no gluten. Bonus: the SNS dip powder method is less damaging to nails than gels or acrylics. The addition of nourishing vitamins A, E, D3, B5 and calcium sets this system apart and promotes the growth of strong healthy nails.

The Process of an SNS manicure

To start, your esthetician will remove any polish you have and prepare your nails. If you’ve previously had an SNS manicure, the removal process is very gentle. The tech will soak your nails in acetone for about 20 minutes, then do a little sanding and trim cuticles. The idea behind the SNS system is to strengthen your nails. Next, you’ll get a base coat, then a coat or more of powder. The esthetician will remove excess powder and paint on top coats. Finally, they will shape your nail to perfection, and you’re done. You won’t need to sit under a UV lamp because the SNS liquids dry quickly in normal room air.
